July 27 CanĂ³n de Lobas, 9mi. E. Guanajuato, 4800+ ft., Marcial, Mexico
0618 - one of pair #3 pit, alup from N. edge of gully. moves up into
top of tree then flies to tree#2 where calls + chatter. both birds
facing same direction + 6-8" apart. both flicking left wing, but right
bird more vigorously. then fly off to S.
0620 - hear chatter in area #1 - sounds like more than pair #1.
then another chatters from slightly uphill. pair #3 then back to
shrubs near tree#2 where chatter following chatter by pair#2 which
is just uphill. pair #3 to tree#2 + chatters - again facing east + 6-8" apart. At least right bird flicking left wing. Then move off uphill.
chatter by pair #1 from tree#1) + then downhill + chatter.
0628- pair #3 back into tree#2. chatter after 2 introductory pitz-a
notes. one facing S+one E. onfacing east flicking left wing vigorously -
followed by chatter from 100+ yds. uphill.
0631- from area of boundary of #3 & #2 - hear several pitz-a notes
then short chatter + quiet.
0634 pair #3 chattering from 70+yds. uphill of tree#2. followed
immediately by chatter of pair #2 from farther uphill.
0636 , pair #3 chatters from tree 70+yds uphill from tree #2. then drops
down into shrubs to forage.
0639- fly up into top of "moch orange" in thicket. tallest plant in
immediate area + chatter. facing about 45o + 6+ inches apart. both wing
flicking the inside wing. followed by chatter of pair #1 from tree
downhill from tree#1. one of pair #3 immediately flies to bare top
branches of tree#1 & pair #1 chatters again from tree downhill.
Bird in tree#1 drops down toward ground + then flies back
