0904 - one of pair #1 into 6 [illegible] 3+ fat up on tan portion of 1st clean branch close to stem. Sang l...... once then sat preening. Flew down toward ground. In 1/2 minute bird from same area flew up into partly defoliated tree + worked to top foraging as it went. Sat quietly at tip of branch then flew off to W.
0913 - pair #3 chattering from outer branch of 25 foot tree (17-19 feet up) 100+yds N of quarry.
0916 - heard soft chip notes in gully + bird up into canopy of 10 foot partly defoliated tree. Forages among leaves in deliberate manner then (0919) flies downhill into undergrowth of wooded gully.
0921 - pair #3 chattering from well N of wooded gully. Then quiet.
0939 - pitza notes from N of gully - pair #3, for 15 sec then quiet as own bird flew uphill 10-15 yds. Then more pitz-a notes followed by short chatter.
0942 - 20+ sec of pitz-a notes from one of pair #3.
0944 - pair #1 chatters SE of tree #1. More pitz-a notes from pair #3 but do not seem to be in response to chatters of #1. Pitza continues until 0947 - in meantime a 2nd bird appears at top of tree (26'tall) at wedge of gully where sits quietly. Bird giving pitz-a call flies to S to gully + continues pitz-a. Bird from tree flies own toward calling bird + gives several pitz-a notes in flight. Then several loud pitz-a notes, chatter.
1020-1027 - heard soft chip notes from below tree #1. Flushed bird from more open ground into small shrub 20+yds downhill from tree #1. Foraged + gave pit-za notes. Heard chip notes off to S in "rock name" thicket. Pitz-a bird flew to SE at 10+ yds.
