26 LLW014 1964 Amophila humeralis July 25 Cañon de Lobos, Sui. E. Cuernavaca, 4800 ft., Morelos, Mexico 0955- pair #3 chatters from area of tree #2 - followed immediately by chatter from pair #1. Then pitz-a + short drill from pair #2. 1002- pair #1 chatters from area of tree #1. 1017- pair #1 chatters from area of tree #1 1023- hen chips uphill from tree #1, + locate foraging bird. In shrub thicket topped by 8-10 foot tree + Acacia. working at one to 2 foot level in 35foot shrubs. annuals over ground to depth of 8-12" with bare den a grassy area, bird disappears uphill. left area at 1100 1105- flushed ♀ from 3eggs in nest #1. July 26 Cañon de Lobos, Sui. E. Cuernavaca, 4800±ft., Morelos, Mexico 0610 - flushed pair #1 from or near ground in small patch of 6-8" compositae surrounded by 4-8 foot shrubs. flew uphill 10+ yds + then further uphill as I followed. flew up again from on or near ground at flew to S (along hill) pitz-a notes. then chatter from near tree #1. followed by chatter from pair #3 from tree top (25') on N side of gully. then quiet. flew across gully + to vicinity of tree #1 where both pairs chattered simultaneously. after pause of 30-40 sec. both pairs chattered again. followed by chatter of pair #2 from uphill. pair #3 then over to tree #2 when chattered. began chatter facing east on dead branches 7½-feet up, near trunk. Moold up 15-foot + continued as now facing W + one facing N. followed by chatter of pair #2. 0627 - pair #1 chatted after pair went to NE) from downhill of tree#1. then quiet. pair #3 apparently back to N-side of gully.
