July 25 Cajon de Lobos, Pari E. Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico 7800±ft. from me while pruning earlier. Pitz-a loudly - on followed by other Mares downhill 10± feet to 2 feet upin interior of 6-7 foot shrub. Both calling loudly. One then flies off to S where gives several introductory notes to song. other moves off uphill when chipping softly. 1st then back to interior of shrub + pitz-a - a third comes into pruning shrub where moves about 2± feet up. calls occasionally. Still hear other find uphill. 1st moves over to pruning bush. While writing notes (0913) - two birds with thick termy Sumac 15± feet S of me. One war for + other in interior about 7 feet away + chatter. Lowes bird then moves up. Search for short time then one begins loud, infrequent pitz-aing. Another comes into shrubs 10 yds to NE (shorter) from me + also pitz-a loudly. (1st then flies over + chatter - one visible - facing downward + flicking right wing. Then pitz-a as moves off to N + then down hill + to S. 0918- both back to near where chattered - calling loudly then silent for 16-15 sec as move off to N short distance. Hear 13cet notes from shrubs uphill. 2 calling birds move uphill - still calling in series of pitz-a notes, but infrequently. Quiet at 0921. 0928 - bird singing introductory notes to song uphill when others headed. Find bird sitting about 4 feet up on dead branch of partly defoliated tree. Chipping accompanied usually by faint flick of tail, 0940 - bird turns or moves + flies off to S. 0941- bird in same tree - maybe some bird back - sings one full song b-. . . . . followed by introductory note then quiet.
