LLW014 1964 Amphitila humeralis July 24 Canion de Lobos, Pai E. Cuernavaca, 4800+ft, Morelos, Mexico 1000 - heard several more chatters & counter-chattering between pair #3 + pair #5. July 25 Canion de Lobos, Pai E. Cuernavaca, 4800+ft, Morelos, Mexico nest #1- no adult sitting on three eggs at 0605. or sang twice from just uphill (just below road) while I looked at nest. 0615 - arrived at area of pairs 1,2,3 on east-facing slope. 0630 - sun hits this part of hillside. 0631 - pair #3 chatters from tree in gully. then silent. flew out to slope (5) tree in area dominated by such trees in place forming almost a closed canopy. this on N side of gully, 30+ yds to N. sat quietly once puffed once at foliage. Then flew on 30+yds to N. where chattered again from near top of 7 foot tree. Sat quietly for 25+sec then flew on to N when chattered again from same sort of tree. then do w uphill - landed but no chatter. Then to NW (out of sight) where chattered. Appears that pair #3 + #4 may be identical. 0643 - pair #3 chatters from 6 foot Acacia, 75+ yds N of gully. One then hops but into plain view while other stays hidden. 0645- both fly to top of 25foot tree at Wedge of gully. when chatter. start chatter < 1 foot apart + facing same direction. Then one which had been wing flicking (right) copiously worked up to top so 15+ inches from other & facing in opposite direction, still wing flicking but not as vigorously - alternating both wings. fly to S. to other side of gully, 0648 - pair #3 chatters from tree #2 followed immediately by chatter of pair #1.
