20 LLWc1f 1967 July 24 Hemophilus humeralis Cerron de Lobos Pai. E. Guanajuato, Mexico 0735 - one of pair #5 into tree #2 where chatter + pitz-a call. Also foraged. 0737 - flew back to wooded gully giving several pitz-a calls in flight. then silent. 0740 - one of pair #3 up into shrubs along gully giving pitz-a calls. then both flew to tree #2 where chatter, then forage in tree. 0742.5 - Both flew to N side of wooded gully when heard chatter followed by chatter from another pair farther to N. + chatter again by pair #3. 0750 - pair #3, in low branches of tree on N edge of wooded gully. pitz-a calls as I walk toward them. one flies out of tree #2 then sits quietly. 0757 - other flew up to tree #2 giving pitz-a calls. then chatter. Both facing SE and 12 inches + apart. Both calling + wing flicking - generally right wing but switch to left occasionally. One then foraged up to new top of tree while other sits quietly. Both fly downhill to shrub thicket 0800 - both flew to N side of wooded gully - pitz-a calls enroute + chatter. Another chatter slightly uphill (N side of gully) at 0801. 0815 - walked over to N side of gully. heard pair chatter from tree as I approached they flew uphill + another chatter then this pair flew off to N. & another pair flew up into tree top to chatter. Pair #4 then chattered. pair #5 chattered 3 times in succession. generally sitting 3-4 inches apart facing same direction, but did change positions so occar. facing opp. directions. On one chatter bird on left flicking right wing vigorously while other bird alternating wings + neither flicked more than inch + from body. Other extended wing so almost perpend. to body.
