LLW014 1964 12 Aimophila occidentalis June 20 1 am. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas. 0606.5 - ? directly to nest with long (4-6") grasses - fine. 0? sings twice. 0608 - ? directly to nest. 0? sings twice 25 sec. & directly back to shrub. 0618 - ? directly to nest, 20 sec + 0? sang twice. 0611.7 - ? directly toward from shrub. 0? sang twice. 0613. - can hear one bird chirping from near stems source must be ?. I saw ? pause once each way to & from nest. When carrying long grasses stopped 8 feet up on bare portion of live pine limb & pulled at grasses seemed to leave a few behind when flew on. Stopped 1/2 way to shrub on 7' dead pine limbs (1" diameter), then continued on to shrub. 0616 - 0? sang once. - sunlight in streaks three weeks but lighting from at 0615. 0618 - 0? sang once. 0620 - 0? sang once. no sign of ?. This nest site is 50-60 feet from shrub where I first (June 19) thought nest might be - probably where I fudged fledged young. 0628 - 0? sang 11 in 1/2 minute (twice). 0670 - 0? sang twice soft, ? into small pine dead limb 150 feet to NW of nest. chirping excitedly, then dis flew to small pine tr to shrub, chirped
