Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas 1026 - ♂♂ starts singing from 1007 yards west of road area, only 5-6 songs, then again at 1028. 1031 - ♂♂ stops singing as I approach. June 20 1 mi. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas Arrived at nest site at 0540. Flock of 6 Chickadees in pines overhead. light meter reading (45/5) - 8.8 0542 - one song ♂♂ - to W. 0543 - 4 songs in succession, but usual spacing.- to W. 0545 - ♂♂ singing TTTT /// stopped at 0546.7 to NW. - - - - ... TTTT 0547 - ~~ singing to W. could hear flutter of wings during flury flight 0548 - — . . . . // 0550 - nothing seems to have been added to nest after I left yesterday. 0552.5 - 2 more songs. to W. 0553.5 - ~ more songs to W. TTTT || - stopped at 0554.5. 600 - found ♀ making trips (3) to spot near base of pine 75-100 yards to SW of yesterday's site. Her course is to NE of nest about 200 feet again around shrub clump. ♂♂ is singing - sounds as if near old nest site. 605 - ♀ flies directly to nest site; after 15-20 sec flies directly back to shrub.
