July 4 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas
0550 - when I arrived on the area - mosquito tank - o^#2 was giving flight songs. o^#5 sang 5-6 times including some flight songs. then was quiet. heard warily song 50-75 yds out in grassy area - given as flight song. Unable to locate family group in tree #5.
0640 - o^#2 actively singing. o^#5 into dead thurache (Acacia when watched 3 individuals on July 3. Song at least three times + then nearly horizontal flight song + dropped into grass just at edge of shrub + grass + grass interface. Flushed as I approached & flew to 5 100+ yds. giving two flightsongs. Both times went into climb after nearly horizontal flight, sang, then began nearly horizontal flight again. last (2^nd) song just before dropping into grass around running mosquito clump. The difference between the shrub + grass + grassy area is primarily one of strata. 2 in shrub + grass + only one (12-18" up) in grassy area, except for scattered 20-25' mosquitoes.
0645 - heard o^#5 singing - probably from ground or on low perch in running mosquito.
