Followed birds to E where three came together in a dead (mostly) 6' huiaache (Acacia) shrub. Generally seemed to be two together + one separate but I think individuals changed around. One flew off NWE into Mesquite Tank + dropped into ground vegetation. Other two stayed 3rd mile. Longer + flew to NW into area of 7-8' hackberry mesquite + smaller Opuntia + Acacia tortuosa with spaces between covered with grass.
Generally stayed on exterior of bushes unless I approached too closely then either flew or moved into interior.
0820- One bird flew into exterior of 4' hackberry. 2nd bird gave chip note a few in.
0822- I approached bush, one flew out to E. Other, to N. One to E dropped to near base of 8' mesquite + then to ground. Other to NW or dead branch in clump of growing mesquite at SW edge of terr. #2. Or #2 gave one song flight from #3 to 10 yds N of intruder. Then another low song flight (6-7') to 10 feet N of intruder. Intruder flew to W + was followed by or #2, getting close no following weaving flight finally (5+ sec) into hackberry clump where three chitter series just as they entered the clump. Then intruder flew off to S. Or #2 sat for 5-10 sec. + then flew off back to N. with song flight started with long (30 yd dist) nearly horizontal flight with only gradual climb when an abrupt climb to 30+ feet + song. Zaded at perch #2.
0840- In terr. #5 had 4 birds congregating at exterior of hackberry clump. Each came in from different direction + at different time. First heard chitter from several birds scattered within 50-60 feet of hackberry. Then me into hackberry when sat
