12W6/8 1964 Aimophila cassini July 1 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas there perch songs - [illegible] (30) until 0726 have bird singing to E + W. sound as if several territories away + adjacent birds in both direction. my bird initially facing W then turned E for 4 songs then back to W. Songs given from bare part of 3-4' high blackberry. Branches 18-15° above horizontal with few leaves. Wind - 10+ mph, + gusty. 0720 - 0725 - 12 songs in 5 min. 2.4/min. also pausing between songs # 0 perch [illegible] = 12. 0724 - flies silently to perch #3. where began singing again from perch. 0726 - disappeared - probably down to ground - silent. 0736 - loud bird singing to W. + one to E. both quiet. 0737 - flight song to perch #4. then perch songs-[illegible] singing from dead stalk n 3' tall. Stalk at ~ 60° to horizontal where bird sitting facing to SW. 0739.5 - flight song to ? W where bird disappears near edge of grazing area + quiet. 0750 - #2, gave one perch song + then quiet. 0757 - bird #2 (#1?) flew to W 20 ± yds. giving short flight song. 0802. bird flight song from 70-80yds W of #1 perch to 30+ yards W. threw dropped into grass. 0812 - can hear chirping to S of me. 0817 - birds 2, 3 - singing 0830-0850 left area to talk to Dick - my shotgun is broken. 0858-0859 - bird #2 sang. no sight of or sound from bird #1,
