LLW014 1964 25 Aimophila cassini June 30 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas 0931.5 - up from ground just E, & #3 in flight song ending at #3. where gave three perch songs just below top. then /// flight songs then perch songs - ///. 0934.5 - flight songs - 1 then perch song, first flight, perch (from down in shade), perch - /// then out to exterior where sang one perch song, then flight song ending just E, & #3 (0939) 0940 - 0945. - 12 songs from 0941-0945. flight - 0 perch - 12 first min (40-41) bird was on ground to W, & perch #3, + not singing, reappeared on perch #3 in exposed position on W side of shrub about 15 sec. before started singing. left area at 0950. July 1 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas Arrived at Mesquite Tank at 0545. & #2 singing, but could not find either & #1 or &. Walked 300 + yds from road & found several more singing & along way. Stopped at one singing actively. Most flight songs, but ~ 20% perch songs. Have at least 3 birds in this area - cell appear fully grown so + at least one is a bird of the year. 0605 - 0615 herd of 10+ steers moved thru area in which I was watching. & quit singing while around his song perch. hear soft chips from several locations. Also heard several chitter series as birds were flushed ahead of cattle. 0618 - & back on song perch.
