LLWOLF 1964 Aimophila cassini June 29 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas chip / any flight / 4-5' hackberry + gave several chips + was silent. Young flew for 30-40 yds. + dropped into dense clump of mosquito hackberry. S not seen. 0913 - SD#1 singing mostly from perch. 6 perch same perch - 1 0915 - 9 songs in 2 1/2 min. 3 flight different - 2 S flight songs were lost three songs given before dropping to ground after last flight song. All 6 perch songs given from same perch in shade near top of hackberry. An open but under top leafy branch perch 0921 - flight song SD # 1 + one farther to NE also SD#3 singing. 6 perch songs, then partial flight song + change perch to dead stubs in tree, another flight song to top of live branch on hackberry. SD #1 also singing. 3 perch songs + then (0925) flight song returning to same perch. SD#1 + 3 also singing. 6 perch songs - 1st 3 in sun; next 3 in shade then flight song changing perches to 30 yds. E to SW. 2 perch songs + then (0928) flight song back to hackberry (0929). SD#1 on other perch. (0931) - after 5 perch songs slight ruffling of feathers + turn 180 deg then flight song + drop to or nearly to ground. 0942 - up for 5' minutes to talk to Dick (he has 19-20 birds). SD#2 quiet until (0950. 0946 = SD#1 singing SD#2 still quiet. 0950 - SD#2 Two flight songs. One seemed to end at tree where I am sitting then S turned off + back to hackberry when sat on exposed perch for 3 songs - (sun under cloud for 2) then dropped into shade tsang three more.
