LCW51F 1964 Amphibolus cassini June 27 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas 0655 - 2 birds flew from W 50 yds. SE of road. One lit on either side of and activity in terr #1. 3 0705 - heard chatter call W of O. walked down there & found three birds moving usually as 2 + 1. One P + prob. F + full grown young. moved to S until 40-50 yds from road then turned E. one bird separated or went farther S, O continued to E. 3rd bird disappeared. O now (0717) still 50+ yds from road war where other bird separated from group. 0915 - found adult with food near SE end of 40-02. flew down to bare hackberry. flushed adult + young - tail essent. young fly / full grown. young flew 50-75 yds SW. Adult on 10-15 yds SW when sat on bare branch at top of Y hackberry & ate a green caterpillar. Mandibulated it several times (axis of worm into mouth) before swallowing. t food horizontal song 0903 - in terr #1. O to E tow edge of yesterday's circle. Song flight ended in hackberry 10 yards S. of road closest shrub to road. 1 min + later flew parallel to road to W for 36+40 yds. & sat on ground. Only part of song - started just before landing. Had characteristics of song flight except was horizontal. 0907 - back to S 50+ yds. Song flight ends in 3' hackberry. 0907.5 - to SE 20 yards (and near top of Y hackberry & sing once perked. then 25 yds to NW ending in song flight to top of 7' Mesquite. long flight / death horizontal 0909 - another bird flew SW from near road about 2-3 feet above ground + with fluttery flight of song flight but horizontal + giving chittering call. O then gave soft
