June 26 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas
1701 - M #1 singing from 30-40 yds SE road. & 1/2 way to telephone lines.
1706 - M #1 flew 20yds west along road giving chitter. Perched in 2-3' hackberry, gave long series of chitters. joined by a 2nd bird. Then flew down into grass with a 3rd. F #1 then back to east & 2nd bird gave chitter + flew 15 feet further west. F #1 still giving flight songs + hear chitters from 75 yds west where #2 bird (not M #2) disappeared. Also chitters from near where M #1 singing.
B (1711 - Bird(2nd) flew 50-75yds to S. (beyond phone lines) + gave loud chitter from top of 7' mesquite.
1715 - M #1 back singing in area of 1600 activity.
1722 - 2 birds in same mesquite under phone lines just S. of road. One dropped almost to ground followed by 2nd. Then two flew out together one 6-12" behind other + flew in weaving course across road N, turned W after 10-20 yards from road & then lost sight of them.
June 27 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas
arrived at 0530. Neither M #1 nor M #3 was singing. Heard pair chatter calls from both pairs + saw two birds together in both territories. Then greet from both sides of road.
8620 - Bird on N side of road & E. end of fern, #3 flushed into clump of huckleberry. Then into top (2'). Then to west along road foraging in relatively bare areas moved twice - total 40 yards then flew across road to E. edge of fern #1 + disappeared.
