LLW014 1964 Aenophila cassini June 26 Welder Wildlife Foundation, San Patricio Co., Texas #3 is 8' of path watched feeding young this morning. #1 singing near road in @ (map) - 3 times (1 flight) 1625 - #3 chit. fl. song. 1626 - #1 - flight song. Back to perch in 1' mesquite then flew horiz. to 3' mesquite - song not complete but whistle in a# + 1 end note while on perch. now back into circle area with flight song. 1631 - #1 flight song for 20yds +/- parallel to +/- 10 yards S. of road. at edge of vegetation. then into 6' mesquite to ground & back into mesquite - each time with partial flight song. flight song begins with shallow, regular, but fluttery performance flight to near apex, then glide while starts song. ends flight with flutter to land. song usually; not always, ends before arriving at perch. Always seems to be complete but note given from perch may be reduced in volume. 1642 - #1 flies to W. 75+ yds. #2 singing to S. + seeming at edge of territory. #1 then in that direction. 1644 - #2 singing from near where first seen. 1645' bird singing from near SE corner of ##/1's territory. 1606 - #2 as this is in area covered by him earlier. The chittering + singing at 1600 was close enough to gender between (t)2 that it may have been a boundary dispute. 1655 - #1 1657 - essentially all @ quiet. has been overcast with strong breeze since 1600.
