L.WOLF 1964 21 Aimophila botteri July 9 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co., Texas 1717 - adult with no food in bill sitting #4. chirping softly. 1719 - drops toward ground t appears to be moving W to nest. then a bird skitters out to E + drops to ground to E of nest about 5 feet. May be both parents shade young - in sunlight now. left until 1728 to take pictures of nest #2. - one of eggs has hatched. 1728 - adult in perch #1 carrying food} chirping softly. 1731 - moves to W side of #1. 1733 - flies to #4 & immediately drops down to over ground + headed to nest, continues chirping softly, but is out of sight. 1736 - adult flew in from E to #2 carrying food in bill. 1737 - flies up to #3 - lands top E side. chirping 1747 - drops down to grass but in #3 then immediately back up to air & flew over to perch #4 + dropped to ground. worked on ground over to nest. 1748 - adult flew out from nest to #1 where sat silently on W side. I think adults trade places at nest when they go to feed. adults at nest 1751 - adult gone from #1 + one or #4 drops to ground on N side of nest. 1803.5 - adult into #3 (top E side) carrying food in bill. chirping. 1808 - adult still in #3 + 2nd one appears on #4 not carrying food - prob came off nest, 1810 - adult from #3 to #1 + one from #4 to #1. hear chewing call. 1816.5 - bird without food leaves + one with food waits 10+ sec + then to nest via #4, 1811.5 - adult without food to #1 from 10 yds E, flew to #4 + to nest.
