LLWOLF 1964 20 Aimophila botterii July 9 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co., Texas 1639- as I drove along road off #2 was on top of dead sides on perch #1- singing continuous song. flushed another adult from S. edge of road about when ten. 172 out. flew to SW for 50-75 yds & still flying when last seen. 1641- off #1 quiet & gone from perch. 1649- adult onto #3 perch (terr #1) with food in bill. sat on top E side chipping softly. worked down to base of Agave & then back to top - then down to middle where sat in shade. As truck passed on road at 1656 flushed 2nd adult who went to SW & then back to NE to perch #1. Joined there by adult with food - it worked low in perch & then back up to middle then to perch #4 & into nest (?) Other Adult stayed in #1 & chipped softly. 1702- adult to perch #4 & gone from #1. 1704- noted ad. with food in #3 - looks like same food as carrying before - prob. did not go into nest when disappeared that way from perch # 4. 1707 - adult went food to #4. 1709 - ad. Mimus polyglottos birds in #4 & adult botterii flew up from ground just E of nest; lands near ground in #4. on chase by sparrow but Mimus stays in #4, finally flies to #1 & back to #4. Agave left alone by sparrow until apparently looking at nest Sparrow then flies at mockin who dives toward ground & moves off to E. Sparrow then moves over to #1 where sits chipping softly. 1715- disappears from #1 & is silent. specific to mimus
