0752. ♂ #7 singing; ♀ #2 flies from ~½ way to laguna up to roads N of road into Celtis. Lit on dead stub 6' high & sang for ½-1 minute until truck came by on road.
~756 - both sexes ♀ #2 fly up from grass N of road. One flies slowly as hovering just above trygrass & then to Celtis ♂ then hovers just above grass & drops in 30yds. N of road. Sings for 5-10 sec. & then flies on to Celtis when lands on dead stub. Both sexes sit chipping, ♀ preening, also chipping from #7. ♀ then to grass 20± yds. N of Celtis - still chipping. ♂ - still chipping, to live branch of Celtis & then to 2' stub 10yds. N. Lit on top. ♀ then flies over to stub & displaced ♂ from top. ♂ dropped down below tops of grasses & sat on another dead stub. After chipping both fly into grasses. When dropping into Spartina hover just above grass & sort of circle around. Then flutter down. ♂ flew to W 50± yds to dead branch of Celtis 3' up. Sat chipping. ♀ dropped into grass between this Celtis & tall Celtis - ♂ flew over, hovered in circle & dropped onto small horizontal perch at grass level. sat chipping: then silent. (0803)
0806 - adult from ~2' above grass tops to chipping from grass where curb is N NE 30-40 yds & dropped back into grass. Silent.
0813 - found nest of pair #2. ~20yds. N of road + 50yds. NW of tall Celtis song perch. West of pair #2 - constructed of dry grasses finer to inside. On N side of grass clump (Spartina) & built into top of fluffy part of clump. Nest fairly deep. Not as well shaded by grasses as #1 nest, but not as exposed to sun. Contained 2 white eggs.
