14 LL Wolf 1964 Aimophila botteri July 8 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co, Texas 1551- adult into #1 carrying insects in bill. Chipping regularly, but rather softly, on dead branch of W side of #6. 1608- finally adult with food to nest. After W bird died and this adult had moved to ending same perch & then to broguinte just behind, then over to #4 where regular chipping, dropped down & appeared to head for nest but quickly reappeared still carrying food. Then finally down to toast. Silent. 1700- located a singing & SE from nest, across road & 200+yds away. flew up into dead shrub & began singing continuous song. Soon heard chipping from W. & then to S where for 3-4 minute more & then headed west. Lit ~100-200 yards to S of nest -so probably this is & #3. Chipping was likely by a & but unable to locate him yet. 1710- hear another & to NE-probably & #4 singing but out of view. Sounds to be near road but on S side. 1715-walked over to find & #4. Singing from near top of 6-7' Agave, ~30±yds. S of road & E of both & #1+#3. flew back to S where counter sang with & #3 who had flown down by them. I flew up from just W of Agave into Agave when sat chipping. Then flew to S where joined by & #4. Both dropped into grass. One came up as I started back in; was not carrying food & dropped back into grass. Left area at 1750.
