LL Wolf 1964 /12 Aniophila botteri July 8 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co., Texas 1041- hear occasional soft chips but not sure from which bird. ?d still in #1 + ? probably on nest, 1047- ?d flies to E; sing on phrase of continuous song from 100+ yds. E & there is silent. 1108- ?d flying from SE across road (100+ yds from nest), chirping all the way to #1, lit + began giving rapid chips. - carrying food. 1109- ? goes nest + to #2 where she gave series of rapid chip notes, than disappeared 1110- ?d ?? # 4 then dropped down & on nest, three flying + on to rest, On nest for 7/2 sec., then out to #7. When sat for 5-/0 sec. then over to W side of #1 when sat facing S with wings held out from body + bill open part of time. gave series of chip notes + than sang for 3-? minutes (continuous song). ?d than flew off to E. heard still song from S. side of road to E but not sure if this ?d or not. 1126 #1??- ?d #2 [terr. W side of road (N- side of road)] into top of celtus dead, horizontal limb. - sang for 10-15 sec. + than disappeared. 1134- a ?d up singing from top of 6 dead branch ~ 150-175 yds. E of nest possibly is ?d from nest. Sang for 10-15 sec. then silent. heard series of chip notes from ?d S. of road. 1139- adult (prob.?) in #3 - top E. carrying long insect in bill. looks like walking stick. giving soft chip notes-some running into rapid series, food 1 1140- both adults in #3. One then to #1- hear sharp chips. bird in #1 has wings held out slightly from body. Both adults carrying food
