LWOLF 1964 Aimophila botterii July 8 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co., Texas On nest for 2+ minutes. Flew out + up to E/ where sang continuous song. Then flew ~50± yds. to E - lit in dead S- shrub when sang for 15± sec. then to E farther + disappeared. ♀ had flown into #2 + then to #3 with food in bill sat on top E side of #3 chipping softly. Heard ♂ sing 2 trill songs + ~0.5 of vocal song. 1087.5- ♀ in #3 chipping, ♂ flew from S side of road to Agave 100± yds. to E of west. Flew in giving trill notes, sang from top for 15± sec., + then quiet song from Agave. 1022- ♀ dropped to just above grass level in Agave. Then flew over to #4 when chipping softly + with new (old) insect in bill. 1024- ♂ into #1 with grasshopper in bil, gave rapid chips.♀ moved closer to nest + finally went on. She was on 7 min. 40 sec during which time ♂ moved to W side of #1. ♀ flew out to NE to #2 ± ♂ flew over to #4 1030- ♂ to rest for ~0± sec. + flew to #1 carrying fecal sac. chipped head several times so if to drop sac before finally dropping. ♂ then disappeared from #1. 1033- adult in #1 when chipping softly. 1034- ♂ in #1 + ♀ flies into #2 carrying food. makes rapid series of chip notes. Then ♀ flies to #3 + lands with rapid series of chip notes. ♀ then to #4 - again rumina chatter as land. ♂ starts to sing continuous song + ♀ to nest. ♂ charges to W side of #1 where sings continuous song. then (1039) sits quietly with no food in bill.
