LLW814 1964 Aimophila betherii July 8 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, near on I-01, Texas 0731.5 - ♀ on S side of road gives long series of tzcel notes very rapidly - almost sounds like reunion & then begins continuous song. Bird leaves #4 + one appears at top of #2 carrying food. 0734.5 - bird with food in floppy flight from #2 to #3. let on tip & lay on E side. 0738 - ♀ singing to S of road. Not same ♀ as at 0731.5. 0744 - ♀ came in from E carrying food. Chipping & flew in to land in #1. Other bird (?) immediately flew past #2 to #1 + one gave rapid series of tzcel notes as reunion performance. ♀ then to W side of bush where tail & wing flicking - flew S just E of nest (0746.5) then to just N of nest then flew up & dropped into nest. Other bird moved to center of #1 still chipping. ♀ out from nest after 30±sec. + sat on dead branch just to E (where lift on way in). then over to #1. ♀ hopped + flew S to top of mesquite at #1. Then over to #3 when ♀ moved to E side of #1, where sat preening & chipping. 0751.5 - ♀ to SE to just across road (♂± yds from nest). + let in top of 2'ured. 0757 - ♀ dropped down from #3 as truck passed on road. also got short burst of song from ♀ just S of road as truck passed. Probably had gone back toward perch #2 & she now (0758) flew from here to E 58-60 yds & dropped into bunch grass. 0901 - bird flew from #4 to E, but not sure if ♀ or not.
