6 LL WOLF 1964 Himopila betterii July 8 Laguna Atascosa Refuge, Cameron Co, Texas When I walked out ad. flew from #1 to #2 & chirped constantly. Then back to #1 when sat chirping 1/2 sec. + preening. 0706 - this adult flew off to SE. West of Betterii in area was very quiet. In fact the only noise is the "chirping" of an Eastern Meadowlark. wind started picking up n 0645. Is not constant yet but gets up to 5 mph. 0713 - ad. with food flew in from 75' E to #2. Had been sitting in top of dead, 3" brush. Other adult immediately flying from SE & lit just above #1 in #2. Then cheering series as two reunion call- again sounded like only one bird. 0718.5 - both flew toward nest. One with food to #3 & other to #1. Bird in #3 chirping softly from top center. & #1 chirping + preening. 0720 - 8 flew from #1 to #2 - flight straight with rapid wingbeat (almost fluttering flight). Lit & cocked tail 60°. 8 began to sing to W & this 8 (#1) also began to sing. ? still in top of Agave chirping. 8 then flew NE to land in bunch grass. 0723 - 8 with more flappy flight - tail preening to #2. left 1/2 way to top as Stenella magna woke up from base to flying #2. 0728 - Both Birds flew into #2 from NE. one 10-15 yds other 10 & yds. No reunion chatter when came to #2. Both perched on branches of #2. 0729 - One flew up to #1 when sat on E side chirping + preening then over to W side again chirping + preening.
