1013- adult silently to nest where fed young then worked at bottom of
nest after 10+ sec. & sitting quietly on rim. young begging stopped while adult
sat quietly. off to N
1026- adult in silence to nest from NW. fed young & then began
working on bottom of nest. Settled on nest as reached across & ate something
(probably a fecal sac) then crossed over to sit rim where tipped head
down to bottom of nest & worked in that position until flew off
silently to NW at 1034.
1045- adult silently to nest from NW. fed young then sat quietly on rim while
young begged then flew off to NW.
1047- adult gave several chips 10+ yds. to W of nest.
1048- adult to nest from NW. fed young then sat on rim while young
continued begging for 10+ sec. young began again when adult probed
nest. adult gave chip, turned, & flew off to NW. where adult chipping
over nest.
Nest - + t set up
130 mm. outside depth 45- cup depth.
outside dia - 120 x 120 mm. inside 75 mm.
of coarse stems & weed stalks with few bits of leaf, lined
with short stems - all of same kind & dark brown.
young - feathers erupted on all tracts. eyes open. grips bottom
of nest (pulled some lining out when removed). did not call when
handled.
