LLWOLF 1964 Melozona kieneri August 5 5 mi. E. Guanajuato, Morelos, Mexico Young continued to beg for short time & then quiet. Adult dropped several times then picked up fecal sac & flew off to NW. 0752 - adult in silence with food (from NW). had light greenish caterpillar which dropped to bottom of nest & was put again into mouth of young. Young continued begging for short time then stopped. Started again for 5" seconds as adult probed bottom of nest then quiet as adult turned & flew off to NW. 0756 - adult to nest again with food. fed yg. 0800 - squawking for woodpecker just down road from nest & attracted one of Melozona - across road from nest. Another flew across road & 1st flew down to join it & heard squawl. 0805 - adult to best with several foods items. Young continued to beg while adult remained on rim after exhausting food. Begging more intermittent after young fed & stopped after adult reached to bottom of nest then turned & flew off. 0819 - adult silently to nest. fed young & seemed to eat a little itself. Young begged until adult left after watching bottom of nest. Just before left raised crown feathers, turned & flew off to NW 5" yds. Where sat 3-4 feet up in under brush chipping. Heard squawl from 30-40 yds to NW followed by squawl from adult via nest which then flew off toward 1st squawl & heard another squawl. 0836 - adult works in from 25"yds W of nest chipping regularly into nest when feeds young that continues to beg until adult leaves carrying a fecal sac. flies off to NW. 50" sec. later adult (other?) to nest where finds young that begs until 5" sec before adult leaves.
