August 5 5 mi. E. Guanavaca, Mazlo, Mexico
0655- checked nest found yesterday. only one young in nest - sounds like other chipping nearby. adult chipping to NW.
0703- adult in to feed single young - begging. after feeding adult peers at inside of nest + pecks 5+ times at the bottom. appears to have little white on tibia + probably is eating fecal sac.
0708- adult chipping to NW. ends with squeal, but not sure of participants.
0724- adult in silently from NW to brush 5+ ft. NW of nest. then to nest. young well above nest + begging. adult apparently missed mouth of young at first + reached down + picked insect from bottom of nest. young continued begging while adult probed bottom of nest. adult raised crown feathers then flew off to NW 5+yds where gave single chip then flew off to W+ disappeared.
0727- adult to nest carrying black insect. but 1st heard chip from away. put insect in mouth of begging young then turned to peck it several times. young continued to beg. Adult did not probe bottom of nest's flew off to NW when heard tree a ee squeal but sounded like given only by single bird.
0735- adult silently to nest from NW. put food in mouth of begging young + then picked 3 items from bottom of nest - missed mouth or young dropped. young continued to beg while adult seemed to be looking at bottom of nest, reached down once, + then turned + flew off to NW. young ceased calling before adult left.
0742- adult 5+yds. NW of nest chipping. then flic to nest with fair pile of insects. had at least three items + fed them one at a time.
