LL Work 1964 Thryothorus pleurostictus July 24 Canón de lobos, Pri E. Guernavaca, Morelos, Mexico singing downhill (on east facing slope, > 1/4 mile from other ant) ♂♂ counter-sings from thicket. Downhill bird (#2) moves uphill 90 30+ yds north of nest(♂#1). ♂♂2 sings + answered by ♂♂1. ♂♂1 then flies over in that direction & lands near top of 7 foot bush. Displaced by another (prob. ♀) ♂♂1 in rapid, shallow wingbeat (fluttery) flight with tail spread slightly back to 10 foot tree in thicket near nest. Flying about 20 feet above ground & scraping. Then similar song flight back down to pass over intubuling ♂♂ + turns abruptly uphill to west & resumes normal flight. Disappears from view. July 27 Canón de lobos, Pri. E. Guernavaca, 4800±ft., Morelos, Mexico nest watched being built now contains one egg. is aqua (light)-colored. no parent scolded while I inspected nest. July 29 Canón de lobos, Pri. E. Guernavaca, 4800±ft., Morelos, Mexico check & photographed nest at 11:00. three eggs - pale blue - light shell + nearly transparent. ♂ sang from 10+ yds away while I inspected nest.
