LL Wolf 1964 Zenaida macroura Mourning Dove June 13 Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona Wilmot Rd. flushed adult from nest on ground containing 2 eggs. under + in shade of partly defoliated mesquite 4-5 feet tall. nest composed of- gresses slightly formed into cup + just raising eggs off ground. adult flopped off nest + fluttered to ground 15 feet away, acted as if injured + flopped 20-20 feet farther away when disappeared. eggs very exposed but probably shaded most of day. area is grassy with composites brushes + Hackberry + mesquite - seemed to be plenty of places where could nest in tree.
