LLWoff 1964 Journal Sept. 1 30mi Elfersillo, Sonora, Mexico to Tucson Pima Co., Arizona arrived about 2145. Had no trouble on Mexican sid + little chul on U.S. side. Were held back for short time by pressed plant specimen. Official finally let them in without fumigation + import permits + I told them they were to be destroyed after identification. After shot supper drove north to Tucson where spent night with J. Trammontano & J. Andrew - graduate students at Univ. of Arizona. I bed at 0030. Sept. 2 Tucson Pima Co., Arizona Up at 0615. Spent day in Tucson. While car was being serviced I examined + measured the Atriplex specimens in the Univ. of Arizona collection. Steve Russell, the new methodologist here, was attending the AOE meeting in Kansas. I would not return until Saturday. Picked up mail in Soil Dept. Spent morning relaxing & packing for trip home starting tomorrow morning. Sept. 3 Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona to Arcadia Los Angeles Co., California Left Tucson at 0730. Spent whole day driving - very hot coasting car to God over. Spent night at Dick Leg's home. Sept. 4 Arcadia, L.A. Co., to Berkeley Alameda Co., California Unventful trip north. Arrived in Berkeley at 1430. Mileage - 67600 - trip slightly over 10000 miles.
