LL Wolf 1964 56 Journal August 6 Cuernavaca, Morelos Mexico Day started clear, but cool. Clouded up about 1030 & was cloudy when we left the pine-oak woodland. Had supper, wrote notes, & to bed at 2030. August 7 Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico Up at 0500 - rained hard during night. After breakfast drove W to edge of town & took road to E toward Tepoztlan. Stopped in woods around km.8. I spent morning until 1100 watching Ruby Sparrrows while Dick collected. Spent most of time near road where cattle have grazed some of vegetation down & it is easier to watch birds. All birds watched were separated as pairs - except for one group of three that must have included a young bird. Clear & sunny all morning - clouded up in mid-afternoon. Back to Cuernavaca where went to market & then to apartment. Spent rest of day preparing birds. Found nest of hummingbird (Violet-crowned ?) about 7 feet up placed on 30° limb at junction of limb & leaf. Branch only 1/2-inch diameter. Nest completely covered with lichens & contained 2 eggs. Had supper, wrote notes, & to bed.
