August 4 Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico
at edge of road. Not sure if chased A. berglinia or not. Also
chased one large black Hymenoptera which visited the flowers. Hummer
snapped at it for 20-30 yds thru the air before returning to perch.
Dick collected during morning in this 2nd growth shrubby
woods. Surprising in this flat country to hear tanagers calling.
Dick said he saw 3 working along a stone fence + I suspect they also
inhabit the numerous lava outcrops.
Saw adult Golden Vires feeding full grown begging young or Dick
collected juvenile Basilentus rufifrons, Myiapages viridicota, &
Sicalia sicalia.
Day started clear to partly cloudy, became completely overcast,
than cleared again.
Back to city at 1200 where spent rest of day preparing birds,
writing notes + to bed at 2000.
