June 17 12 mi. SE Palestine, Anderson Co., to Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas or was singing at 1400. Followed this pair for about 10 minutes & then they disappeared. Collected a Pine Warbler just after it flew up from ground to where it flew closing a bag it had dislodged in foraging thru weed & clumps at end of June. Found Dick & we walked together toward a swampy woods. I heard a Hooded Warbler while he tried to get a Tricolor (Tufted). Then back to car seeing several Avocados ahead of us. Chased one down or hole. They can move amazingly fast (faster than we could run) thru woods. Back to camp at 1630. Went for short swim. I then prepared birds (3) while Dick made supper. After supper write notes & then to bed at 2000. June 18 Boykin Springs (Angelina Natl. Forest), Jasper Co., Texas Up at 0530. After quick breakfast drove to 1/4 mi. Chased them around for about 2 hours. Finally saw & but there lost her immediately as I was still trying to get recordings of the song - Located pair together & female seemed to be carrying food. Dropped into grass. After seeing her with food again tried to find nest - un successful. While looking she came in a third time. Neither of the last two times did she go to the nest.
