LL Wolf 1964 Journal June 13 Tucson Pima Co., Arizona - 2500 feet. Thrashers, Cactus Wrens + an Roadrunner - not bushy like Thrashers but larger - not supported beneath by cholla branches. Caught Phrynosoma solare at base of mesquite. Went down hole at base. - tail not in hole. Pulled out by tail + noted that one eye at least was bloody + blood on top of head. Unfortunately did not wait start to come from eye. Back to Tucson at [illegible] 2030. Wrote notes + to bed. June 14 Tucson Pima Co., Arizona Up at 0570. Drove out to Molina Basin in oak zone on Santa Catalina Mts. Area is cut by stream along which is riparian vegetation of oak + sycamore. Also large areas of Rhus + other brush. Saw several Rock Wrens, groups of Lesser Goldfinches heard Bell Vires, Ash-throated Flycatcher Area is rocky hillsides with grass, small agave-type plants, + various perennials + shrubs, + scattered oaks. Spent most of time from 0600 to 0700 recording vocalizations of a single [illegible] Rufous-crowned Sparrow. Did not see another with him. Not sure if mated. Drove on to Molina Basin low ground where I went up hillsides to grass-agave-oak association rufus habitat
