LHWof 1964 Journal June 12 10 mi. N. San Bernardino to Tucson, Ariz. Stopped for Breakfast at 3 mi. E. + 2 mi. S Cabazon Cally. Turn right (5) at Chevron Sta. Then left past 3 more places where one might turn - now on dirt road then angle to left & follow to base of art. at grove of Sycamores. Large - 7-10 feet tall with grass understory, scattered cholla. In same flowering shrubs 6-8 or Costa Humming birds were stationed watched chases up to 3 individuals (not seeing all chases involved ood), also much vocalizing - tingle, three whistle. Saw Scott Oriole fly by; heard Bewick War, Ash-Thr. Flycatcher & Rock Wren calling. Left & back to Cabazon for gas at 0800. Then drove crossing Arizona border at 1100. Drove on 60 +70 to Phoenix, Took 80+89 east + south to Tucson. Arrived Tucson at 1715. Temperature 94°F, & humidity 5%. 65% in Phoenix. Drove to Saguaro House; found John Tvomantaro is here for summer. We will stay here for night & probably for last night also. Yucca blooming north of Tucson + at various places along road. Joshua Trees east of Cabazon apparently just about there blooming. Had supper + talked to Will Russell + Bob Kick left - students of MacArthur at Pennsylvania. To bed at 2408
