August 18 Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico
Up at 0530. Drove east four [illegible] mile + parked along road. Recorded vocalizations of Semichrist Sparrow.
Then spent rest of morning until 0930 collecting Semichrist Sp. Obtained 23+1 juvenile. Found what is probably nest of Orange-fronted Parachet. Saw pair fly into tree - they left as I approached. Another pair became calling + would not fly until I was 30+ feet away. Territorious just below one bird had hole on one side + near top.
up to near top + then Tunnel curved back down.
Coud not feel end with hand. Found several family groups of White-bred Gnatcatcher.
Morning was very cloudy + had several light rains. Spent rest of day putting up specimens + writing notes. Still cloudy + 1600, but not completely overcast.
August 19 Tehuantepec to 2 miles east Tapapatepec, Oaxaca
Up at 0530. Drove to open Acacia field 2+ miles west of Tehuantepec. Spent until 0830 collecting, primarily for Aimophila rusticauda. Morning started overcast but cleared as we left. Spent rest of morning preparing specimens. Then packed car + had lunch.
