LLW81F 1963 Journal July 25 6 ni - sw La Huerta, Jalisco, Mexico Ica. 1117 nices in thickets + about nests in taller trees. Pair of San Blas Jays flew over camp + into taller trees along stream below camp. Went out to collect about 400. Was unable to find any A. mycenauda, but took the Linaloa when + a Centurus chrysopitys which I gave to John as UMMZ has no skeletons of this species. Prepared specimens, had lunch + went back into fields. About 1430 it began to rain so I came back to camp + wrote up species list. Gradually the farmers came in from fields + stopped to see how we had done. Had supper. Still raining as I write these notes at 1845. About 1830 Yellow-winged Caciques begin to congregate in 10-15 foot second growth across road. Several trees + legumes are used as temporary stoppping points along way. John has taken 5 birds from one dead legume - then on July 24 + 2 tonight. I estimate 100+ individuals, most coming from SW use this area as a night roost. They do not use the tall trees, but roost in the dense second growth thickets. Caciques roosting
