LHWolf 1963 29 Journal July 14 John tried to record songs - loose battery so recorder not working. He then went out to collect. Not feeling well so we back by time I returned from observing, I went out for about an hour trying to collect oriole 5-stripes. At this time of day they are not singing & thus trying to get close enough to shoot is difficult. I did get 2 Ainsphila sargalia in more open river bottom + a Varied Bunting on the hillside. Prepared specimens then started for Hermosillo. Had lunch along roads. Drove to Guaymas - arrive ~ 1600. After seeing bay drove north of town to Creek - 3 Wilets (?) on small pond. Back to main highway + took room in Motel Martin. Had supper + wrote notes. Found only Ground Dove & Gilded Flicker w/ young. Found no nests before or other signs of breeding. Do all birds in this area wait for summer rains? July 15 - from Guaymas to 27 mi. S. Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico had breakfast at motel. In Guaymas bought drinking water 1/2 block off main street on Calle (7 or 8?). Took care of other chores started south. Stopped at Empalme to check
