LLW01F 1963 Journal June 25 - Left area at 1700, back to Tucson. Had liner prepared birds from Molino Basin + wrote notes. June 26 - Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona to east of Camel, Arizona. arrived at Wilmot Rd. locality at 0845. Set up the net + spent rest of morning until 0915 trying to catch + color-band Aimophila carpalis. Managed to catch 2 + hed one other tounge off net. Also cought a very [illegible] Lucy Warbler + Curve-billed Thrasher. Returned to Tucson, bought groceries preparatory to leaving later this afternoon for SE part of Arizona + adjacent New Mexico. Shiny Rufous-wing Sparrows The only other species that regularly forage on the ground in this area are Brown Towhees, Gilded Flicker, Curve-billed Thrasher + probably the Cardinals. I would guess that the only species using same food source would be the Brown Towhee. Mesquite is favorite foraging spot for Lucy Warbler, Verdin, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher, Hooded Oriole (down low). June 26 39311.2 mileage in Tucson at 4:20 pm at time of departure for se. Arizona.
