Mt. Wood Rate.-Pack Rate. November 24th - 1928. Trip to mine tunnels east of Coratello 4 miles. There is evidence of recent activity of rats in all the tunnels visited - namely mines A, B & C. Drove a large female along wall of tunnel A. and collected her with a rock. This rat seemed to be blinded by the flash light and moved about comparatively little. Several nests which appeared to be in recent use were located on the floor of the tunnel. On this tunnel the rats have a meeting retreat in a def crevice in the wall, cat. No. 195. ♀
