Beaver. Mink Creek. June 11, while in the field, I met Mr. L. A. Sehrbas, assistant chief deputy game warden, and had a conversation with him over the beaver of the vicinity. He told me of the exact location of beaver on Mink Creek. He pointed out that there are about six active colonies well up on the West fork of Mink creek. They are about 3 miles beyond the Banrock Ranger Station on West Fork. The creek turns in a north westerly direction above the station. This would place these beaver about 3 miles N. W. of Banrock Ranger Station. Since these colonies are located in the heart of the Cache Nat. Forest area, which is also a permanent game preserve, they are a great deal more secure than those on the west fork of Rahid Creek, which are dependent entirely on the watchfulness of the game department for their protection.
