Beaver. Barretto - June 10-11-(cont.) p.3. and I either over looked it, or it has been built since. This whole construction is only two years old, and apparently it has taken a year's work on the dam, to make sufficient depth of water to accomodate a horse. The house was photographed. Three small dams were noted below the big dam. These were only across the creek bed itself and were about 10 ft long and two or three feet high. We saw one beaver at 3:45 P.M. June 10. It was swimming about in the water and slapped his tail 3 times. We returned about 6:30 P.M. and were standing about 30 ft. back of the dam, and I had just noted a well-trodden runway leading from the creek-bed below the fund, over the dam, when a big fellow waddled up from below, noticed us momentarily, and then moved on rather deliberately to the top of the dam and dived into the water!
