Beaver. Barrett's Ranch - June 10-11 - 1932 (cont.) p.2. forms a pond 150 ft. wide and about 200 ft. in length. The willows which were along the original creek bed, provide a great deal of cover for the beaver in the south half of the pond. We crossed the creek and went into the ash grove where the beaver were lumbering. Photographs were made of some cuttings. There is no evidence of their cutting willow, and this easily accessible ash seems to be their food entirely. As usual, the peeled limbs of ash are utilized in the construction of the dam. A house has been built near the south bank of the pond, well hidden among the willows. It is 10 ft in diameter at the surface of the water and extends six feet above the water. This is the first time I have seen this house. My last visit was in Sept. 1931,
