Pocket Sketch.
March 9 - 1928.
[illegible]
within the city limits and on
either side of town for
two or three miles the
Portneuf River is bordered by
a strip of land only about
one fourth mile wide which we
would call distinctly river bottom
association. Back of this the
land rises more or less
abruptly in dry, gravelly hills.
This bottom association is
often swampy and all very flat.
My first sketch was
taken in a swampy location
in west Creteille within the
city limits. No. 123 - 9.
The grass here is a
mixture of very coarse sough
grass, blue grass and sweet
clover; sough grass and sweet
clover predominating.
A few days prior to Mar. 9
was the first time new spring
