Lepus
5mmu. Short rabbit.
Oct. 21-1932-Schutt's mine, 10 mi. N. E.
Pocatello, Bannal Co. 3de, 650ft.
On this date Mr. Schutt
returned from a trip to his mine
and brought me two snowshoe
rabbits. He found them taking
shelter in a mine tunnel and
caught them alive before they
could escape. I caged them
together and we killed and
badly mangled the other, so that
only one, # 697 was saved. It
was almost entirely white, with
a dark patch on the face and
some black or gray on the dorsal
surface of the back. Mr. Schutt
reported them very common in
the vicinity of his mine holdings.
