Field Trips. 3 miles S. W. American Falls. Power Co. Idaho. Oct. 15 - 1932. While in Am. Falls on this date, I drove S. W. of town about 1:30 P.M. and looked for gopher sets. I spent an hour in the irrigated section and found no track of gophers. I then resorted to inquiry, and was directed to a canal bank and R.R. right away where a gopher was reported to have been taken. This locality was visited and some runs located. The soil was almost pure fine sand and evidence of very little activity. I set fine traps and returned four hours later, but had taken none. This location was about 3 miles N. W. and across the Snake River from the location at Indian Springs where Thomomys bridgeri has been collected. I had hoped to take the thousand gophers here. My brief survey suggests that gophers are scarce south west of the Snake River in this locality.
