SE across the fan.
The vegetation was typical Mojave
desert but with a remarkable
species richness. The dominants
were Larrea tridentata, bladder
sage, Hymenoxys salsola, the
associates were Belia sp, Encelia
sp, Barrel cactus, Opuntia
echinocarpa. The soil was a coarse
gravel with some sand/dust areas
& most of the area had basalt
rocks scattered about on the
soil surface. I have never seen
signs of Dipodidae as thick as
here. Almost all of the ground
had either burrows, surface
caches, sand bathing areas, or
tail drags. Finished setting the
traps by moon light, it was
3/4 full.
