Villabarra 1988 Journal SE across the fan. The vegetation was typical Mojave desert but with a remarkable species richness. The dominants were Larrea tridentata, bladder sage, Hymenoxys salsola, the associates were Belia sp, Encelia sp, Barrel cactus, Opuntia echinocarpa. The soil was a coarse gravel with some sand/dust areas & most of the area had basalt rocks scattered about on the soil surface. I have never seen signs of Dipodidae as thick as here. Almost all of the ground had either burrows, surface caches, sand bathing areas, or tail drags. Finished setting the traps by moon light, it was 3/4 full. 21 Oct 6 mi S Granite Wells, Providence Mtns, San Bernardino Co. Calif. 3800 ft Sun rose at 6:30.
