of Krato combined was 11♀:2♂. I am
not certain whether this reflects a
real difference in sex ratio or just
a marked difference in trapability.
The capture success was about what
I expected for the amount of singps
we saw. Thus if Fs are less trappable
I would assume it is because they
are not as active this time of year.
Yet I don't know why that would be
the case; Cayothamnus is still fruiting,
at Walker Pass a few weeks ago
23 of our 43 captures (of known sex)
were ♀ (thus almost 1:1). As a result
I am content to conclude that this
population as a whole is small in
number and very strongly male
biased. Also of interest is the fact
that both females had uterine scars
and that no unreproductive females
were caught.
