1988 Journal Line A trapped 1 K-rat. This line more or less parallels line B. Line A starts at A1 N30°E of C and N283°W of Band runs S262°W. It veers to the right up the ravine & ends up running S272°W of A40. A40 is at S124°E of D. After collecting the rats we prepared them. Since the 20 traps at camp + 20 along the road captured no rats, Kelley and I moved them to the canyon NW of the mesa. The signs of activity were about as common as in the mesa so we set a line running EW along the canyon bottom. At both sites (canyon + mesa) activity seemed low. Burrows and pit caches could be found but they occured primarily in the open areas (patches of no plants) rather than mixed in among the plants. Also I noted that the vegetation seemed thick overall for K-rats. There were lots of decedent plants, and a bundance of woody litter in some spots, and overall more reg. litter than I would associate with good K-rat
