SE facing slope of a hillside
at the top (N) side of a large t
flat grassland area. This area is
of interest because several Dipodomys
occur here.
Slope 1 was steep, ~ a
50° incline, with
an E exposure,
Slope 2 was shallower,
about 30° with a S. exposure. The
deep ravine had about a 4 ft
width at the top with a 4 foot
depth; its sides were 50-60° incline.
The soil in this ravine was loose
and soft, the lambs were loose
and soft, vegetation was thick
in places (~40% cover). In this area
D. ingens were found in open areas
on the slopes, in association with
their mounds. D. nitratoides were
in the shallower ravines or in the
deep ravine. A third species was
a narrow faced K-rat of good
size with feet that were more
stout than those of D. ingens;
this is probably D. agilis perplexus
(more collected.) In addition
